Average Introduction (Lesson 1)

Study Easy for TNPSC IBPS SSC Exams

1 second Tricks

Average

Lesson 1

26, 28, 30, 32, 34 = ?

96, 97, 98, 99, 100 = ?

52, 54, 56, 58 = ?

43, 44, 45, 46 = ?

Average = Sum of observation / Total number of observation

For example:

Calculate Average for  10, 40, 20, 50

Sum of observation = 10 + 40 + 20 + 50 = 120

Total number of observation = 4

Therefore Average = 120/4 = 30

How to easily calculate the average?

Case 1: Consecutive Number:

x, x+1, x+2, x+3, x+4

Case 2: Consecutive Odd Number:

x, x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8

Case 3: Consecutive Even Number:

x, x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8

Tricks:

If you see the sequence is consecutive, middle number is average.

101, 102, 103, 104, 105 = 103

101, 102, 103, 104 = 102.5

81, 83, 85, 87, 89 = 85

81, 83, 85, 87 = 84

66, 68, 70, 72, 74 = 70

66, 68, 70, 72 = 69

Practice yourself:

Calculate Average:

26, 28, 30, 32, 34 = ?

96, 97, 98, 99, 100 = ?

52, 54, 56, 58 = ?

43, 44, 45, 46 = ?

23, 25, 27, 29, 31 = ?

45, 47, 49, 51 = ?
